Mother Cuppa Approach

mother cuppa challenge

The Mother Cuppa Approach is for you as a parent – so you can reflect on what is challenging you and why, how you coped and if you could have done anything differently. It’s also about focusing on the good stuff each day however small or perhaps seemingly insignificant.

However much we love our children, being a parent can be hard work, it can be relentless and exhausting and it requires a lot of giving. I want to encourage you to focus on what you are doing well, to develop strong coping strategies and to find the good in the day when you can pause for a minute and how you can focus on the positives.

This aims to give you a boost and to create a positive mindset that works for you, rather than just focusing on the things that are stressful and overwhelming. As a parent there’s a chance that you will be overlooking so much of what you do with and for your children and it is easy to make it to bedtime without giving yourself a pat on the back. Or focusing on the tiredness or the frustration of the day without thinking “but that was nice”.

Let’s focus on the details and see what difference it makes to you.

This is about creating a positive habit so reflecting on what has gone well becomes a part of your life, helping you to manage the ever-changing demands of being a parent.

By focusing on what you need as a parent, to acknowledge and manage the challenges you can think about your wellbeing and how well you are doing.

My philosophy around parenting is about gathering the knowledge, support and reassurance you need so you can look after you and be the parent you want to be. My aim is for you to have a foundation of practical strategies with a practical mindset so you can do what works best for you.

Keep it simple

  • Aim to spend just a few minutes on this, don’t overthink it. If you want to spend time on it, then great, just find what works for you.
  • Just jotting down a few words and thoughts will be beneficial.
  • It is the perfect opportunity to buy new stationery!

And please do send me a quick message if you have any questions.

An experienced specialist in pregnancy, birth & early parenting, I have worked with parents since 2002. I am based in the North East so I regularly work with parents from Newcastle, Northumberland, Gateshead and across North Tyneside. Face-to-face sessions will continue with North East parents but digital courses and online sessions means I can work with parents everywhere.
