Birth Preparation for 2nd-time Parents

20190225_195538_0001.pngWhen you are pregnant again, you will need to think about labour and birth once more.

You might just need a refresher or you might need specific information and focus – this can also be accompanied by a session to debrief your previous birth experience. I also work with a lot of parents who have experienced babyloss or stillbirth and want to focus on birth again, while managing different concerns and anxieties.

Birth preparation when you are pregnant again can be about refreshing your knowledge, talking through any specific concerns as well as focusing on your options and gathering the information you need to feel better prepared.

You can book onto my antenatal course to refresh your knowledge in a small group setting or you can arrange 1:1 sessions to focus on labour & birth, induction or a planned caesarean.

The options for you include:

  • antenatal course: 5 sessions to focus on labour and birth, as well as introducing  a new baby to your family. This includes a relax & breathe session.
  • birth debrief – a 1:1 session to talk through your previous birth experiences
  • 1:1 birth preparation: one or two sessions to focus on your need for information and practical skills
  • 1:1 relax & breathe for pregnancy and birth – simple and effective breathing and relaxation techniques to benefit you in pregnancy as well as in labour

birth 121 feedbackThe aim of my sessions is to provide you with good knowledge, practical information & techniques, along with discussion and a chance to ask questions.

These sessions are accompanied by a toolkit of resources to use and read at home during and after the course.

Professional, welcoming and personalised sessions

Each session is informal, enabling you to focus on the information and providing you with the space to chat, ask questions and gather information while feeling comfortable and relaxed. This way, you can focus on your needs so you can think about your options and what might be helpful for you.

With Janine Smith
A specialist in pregnancy & birth, early parenting and parent wellbeing

I have worked with parents since 2002 and, as a practitioner with professional training and experience, I am trusted to provide a balance of reliable knowledge, non-judgemental support and much needed reassurance.

My approach is not to tell you what to do – it is to listen, to provide you with the opportunity to ask questions, it is about providing ideas and information, helping you to formulate plans and to find what works for you and for your family.

The focus is on your wellbeing in pregnancy, for birth, as a parent and as you, the person behind the parent and I have created informal but effective small group and 1:1 sessions to benefit you.

If you have any queries and to arrange your sessions, just send me a message.
