Description

My antenatal course provides professional, practical and personalised sessions for all expectant parents to be better prepared for birth and baby.

If you would like to attend this course with a friend or two, we can arrange small group sessions.

This course is based on experience, research and proven practical skills to better prepare you for the reality of birth. With resources to use at home, this course is ideal if you are expecting your first baby or if you are in need of a refresher.

There are 6 Modules to access online with practical information, audio files and worksheets to download and use during pregnancy, labour and with your baby. It is self-paced so you can go through it in your own time.

Module 1: Labour
Module 2: Birth
Module 3: Pain Management
Module 4: Decisions & Strategies
Module 5: Beyond Birth
Module 6: Your New Baby
Module 7: Relax & Breathe For Pregnancy, Birth & Baby

This is not about labour & birth being easy, it is about putting yourself at the centre of your care. It is about managing the different challenges of labour & birth and knowing what you can do.

Only 27% of labours are without intervention, so it is important to know about induction, caesareans, assisted delivery and epidurals. This gives you knowledge about your options and how to stay calm if labour becomes more complicated.

By the end of your course, you will know more about…

  • EARLY LABOUR
What to expect, knowing your options, managing your contractions and managing your energy when you are at home
  • ESTABLISHED LABOUR & GIVING BIRTH
What to expect, managing your contractions, managing your energy, pain relief, knowing your options
  • WHAT CAN HELP & WHAT CAN HINDER
Knowledge that can make a big difference in labour, birth, with epidurals and induction
  • GOOD BIRTH SUPPORT
So birth partners know how to help and how to be an advocate
  • EFFECTIVE POSITIONS FOR PREGNANCY, LABOUR & BIRTH
To move, rest & use gravity to help with contractions, epidurals, induction and to be more comfortable
  • USING YOUR BREATHING
To stay calm, to work with contractions, to use with all births and to head off any panic
  • INDUCTION, EPIDURAL & CAESAREANS
These can all become necessary so it helps to be better prepared and to know more about your options
  • USING PAIN RELIEF EFFECTIVELY
Know more about your options and how to use the different pain relief methods
  • PANIC POINTS
Where these are more likely to happen and how to manage them
  • MEETING YOUR BABY & YOUR RECOVERY
So you know more about your options and what to expect
  • THE EARLY DAYS & WEEKS WITH YOUR BABY Preparing your home, life with a newborn and looking after you

In addition, you will also have the opportunity to:
* develop your own birth plan with questions and strategies
* think about what you might need
* know what questions to ask
* know more about potential challenges and how to manage them
* have resources to reflect on the birth of your baby
