Reasons to book Relax & Breathe

The main aim of my Relax & Breathe sessions is to provide you with straight-forward, effective and adaptable relaxation and breathing techniques. There’s no fuss and wishy-washy activities – it is just knowing how to use and control your breathing when you need to.

Calm breathing and letting go of tension is great in pregnancy and it is really effective in labour and for birth – helping you to stay calm and focused but also to enable your body to contract and do what it needs to do to bring you your baby.

I have taught Relax & Breathe monthly for over ten years now – my sessions are based on tried and test techniques which can be adapted and used differently by everyone.

relax & breathe feedbackThe benefits…

I am trained to teach relaxation and breathing techniques for pregnancy, labour and birth so you can benefit from practical tools for aches and pains, for your contractions, to have more energy, to have focus, to stay calm and to have more control over you.

I provide small group and 1:1 sessions so you can feel comfortable to ask questions and practice the relaxation and breathing.

Nothing is prescriptive, so you can adapt and change these techniques to suit you – in that way they are tailored to you, making them easier to use.

I am an experienced birth practitioner, so I have taught and used these techniques with different expectant mums and labouring women.

These techniques are simple and really easy to use – you don’t have to learn a different way to breathe – it is all about focusing on and slowing down your breathing, while letting go of tension and relaxing your body.

You will be given resources to use at home because this needs to be practised at home – the more you can use it, the more familiar it will become.

These are skills to last a lifetime – you can use these techniques with your baby and children or if you are feeling stressed, tired, achey or anxious.

antenatal classes newcastle tynesideAbout me…

I am a specialist in pregnancy, birth and early parenting.

I have worked with expectant parents since 2002 and I have taught antenatal classes almost weekly since 2005.
I am NCT-trained and, due to my knowledge, training and experience, I am able to provide information, support and reassurance for all expectant parents. My sessions are friendly and informal – not like a classroom – with small groups and 1:1 sessions so you can ask questions and gather all the information you need. In addition to general birth preparation, I specialise in being parent-focused so I can provide support for specific issues such as birth anxiety, giving birth again, being induced, planned caesareans and homebirths.

I have attended a number of births as a doula, so I have experience of different labours and births. I am also a mum of three.

I run sessions from my base in North Shields and all of my sessions are attended by parents from across Newcastle, Tyneside and Northumberland.
