Let’s talk about working
parents

After educating, talking and listening to parents for over 20 years, I bring knowledge, skills and insight on supporting working parents families.

With over 20 years as an antenatal and postnatal practitioner, writer and facilitator, I am skilled at working with parents to provide knowledge, support and reassurance.

I provide insights into the needs and behaviours of parents during this time of change and new challenges, with words and conversations about the different issues affecting them during pregnancy, around birth, with their baby and as a young family.

I work with employers to strengthen the wellbeing and morale of working parents, especially when they return after having a baby

Advising on and developing:

  • policy & support review and development
  • return to work programmes
  • support & resources for managers
  • supportive community for working parents
  • a pathway of ongoing communication

To achieve:

  • a smoother return to work after maternity leave
  • reduced stress and burnout
  • stronger relationships with employees by demonstrating an understanding of the challenges and offering help
  • improved employee retention
  • a strong family friendly culture and reputation
  • more informed and confident managers and colleagues

Why Employers Work With Me

After working with parents and organisations, I bring a wealth of experience, knowledge and skills to employers who are looking to provide more support.

My personalised approach means I can work with parents and employers in a unique way, by connecting with parents in a professional, practical and understanding way. I have:

  • 20+ years of antenatal/postnatal practice
  • a deep understanding of parent needs, behaviour and stress points
  • experience supporting thousands of families with workshops, small group discussions and 1:1 sessions
  • clear, practical guidance that fits real workplaces

Over the last 20 years, I have worked closely with expectant and new parents, talking with them about maternity and paternity leave, their return to work, and how they adjust to life as a working parent. In more recent years, I’ve supported both parents and employers directly. These are some of the themes that have emerged over the years:

  • many working mums are pleased to be back at work and they can still be ambitious
  • imposter syndrome and a drop in confidence can be very normal
  • company policies and support pathways can sometimes be unclear
  • mums can develop self-imposed pressure to perform perfectly
  • support and understanding from managers makes a significant difference
  • flexible working options can transform a parent’s experience
  • there isn’t always a simple fix but acknowledging the challenges, and having space to talk them through, can make a huge difference
