Maternity and family researchers really benefit from talking to parents in pregnancy, during maternity leave and throughout early family life.
I work with researchers on projects covering a range of topics. Recent research projects have included:
- alternatives to BMI in pregnancy
- induction of labour
- taking aspirin in pregnancy
- dental healthcare for children
- screening for jaundice in newborn babies
- health impact during early parenthood
Discussions and involvement can have a huge impact on research projects, providing researchers with real experiences and perspectives.

Involvement can include:
- being part of small discussion groups to answer a researcher’s questions, adding your perspectives and experiences
- reading and editing resources and materials
- asking questions to help steer the progress of a research study
- helping with funding applications
- co-producing a study with a researcher
- identifying key messages and sharing research findings
As an antenatal & postnatal specialist, I work with researchers from across the UK so most discussion sessions are online, although I am also planning more in-person sessions with parents from Tyneside.
- Most sessions tend to run for between 60-90 minutes
- They are informal and friendly, with small groups
- You can meet the needs of your baby during the session so you are encouraged to feed, change and soothe as you need to
I am creating a panel of parents who are interested in helping to inform and shape family & maternity research projects. If you would like to hear more about the different research sessions, you can send me a message below. Please let me know if you have any questions.
And a huge thank you: your input is so valuable to research, it makes such a difference and it shapes each project.

- Your information will only be used to keep you informed about research projects. It will not be shared with anyone else.
