Maternity and family researchers really benefit from talking with parents in pregnancy, during maternity leave and throughout early family life. You can share your experience and perspective to help shape research ideas and projects.

I work with researchers on projects covering a range of topics. Recent research projects have included:

  • alternatives to BMI in pregnancy
  • induction of labour
  • taking aspirin in pregnancy
  • dental healthcare for children
  • screening for jaundice in newborn babies
  • health impact during early parenthood

Discussions and involvement can have a huge impact on research projects, providing real-life scenarios and feedback.

Involvement can include:

  • being part of small discussion groups to answer a researcher’s questions, adding your perspectives and experiences
  • reading and editing resources and materials
  • asking questions to help steer the progress of a research study
  • helping with funding applications
  • co-producing a study with a researcher
  • identifying key messages and sharing research findings

As an antenatal & postnatal specialist, I work with researchers from across the UK so most discussion sessions are online.

  • sessions tend to run for 60-90 minutes
  • they are informal and friendly, with small groups
  • you can meet the needs of your baby during the session
  • you will usually be offered a gift voucher for your time

Your input is so valuable to research, it makes such a difference and it shapes each project.

  • I have a panel of parents who are interested in helping to inform and shape different family & maternity research projects.
  • If you would like to hear more about the research sessions and being part of the panel, you can send me a message below.

Let me know if you have any questions and please do share this post with any other parents who might be interested in joining the research panel.
