So this has been taken down to be reviewed. Even if this is advice for children with swallowing and feeding difficulties, I'm still surprised that processed junk food is the suggestion. Is there guidance that includes nutritious food that can encourage chewing? 22 years ago today, I was in early labour - mine are always long - and I was pottering about with irregular contractions after a night without much sleep. Over the last 18 months I have worked on three national projects with several groups of mums. Last week I drove past a woman with a baby and a toddler. During those few seconds, I saw her pause and wipe away some tears. Strong, regular contractions come with being in labour, everything else is an indication that labour is close or is very gently starting to happen. My morning desk set up is important - coffee, water, diary, notebook, handcream and a candle. Several years ago my newborn son died during heart surgery. The surgical team each came to see us to say how sorry they were. The heart surgeon explained everything to us and we somehow made our way home. "Birth and motherhood have floored me with how hard they were."
