Maternity researchers really benefit from talking to parents in pregnancy, during maternity leave and throughout early family life.
I work with researchers on projects covering a range of topics. Recent research projects have included:
- alternatives to BMI in pregnancy
- induction of labour
- taking aspirin in pregnancy
- screening for jaundice in newborn babies
- health impact during early parenthood
Involvement can include being part of small discussion groups to answer a researcher’s questions, informing research with your perspective and experience of different aspects of antenatal or postnatal services, reading and editing resources and materials and asking questions to help to steer the progress of a research study. It’s also possible to help with funding applications and to co-produce a study with a researcher.
Discussions and involvement has a huge impact on research projects, providing researchers with real experiences and perspectives.
I work with researchers from across the UK so most sessions will be online, although there will be some in-person sessions with parents from Tyneside.
- Most sessions tend to run for between 60-90 minutes
- They are informal and friendly, with small groups
- You can meet the needs of your baby during the session so you are encouraged to feed, change and soothe as you need to
If you are interested in being involved in maternity research projects and you would like to hear more about different research sessions, please send me a message below. And please let me know if you have any questions.
And a huge thank you – your input is so valuable to research, it makes such a difference and it shapes each project.
