I am part of a team, which includes Newcastle University, Newcastle Hospitals, SANDS and Action on Pre-Eclampsia, working on a pre-eclampsia and aspirin project and we are looking for some different perspectives to develop a resource about using aspirin in pregnancy.

Why does pre-eclampsia and aspirin matter?
Pre-eclampsia is a condition that affects some pregnant women, usually during the second half of pregnancy (from 20 weeks) or soon after their baby is delivered. (NICE 2022)
While it can be mild, for some women and babies it can be fatal.
Research studies have shown that taking low-dose aspirin in pregnancy can help to prevent or slow the onset of pre-eclampsia but we also know that women can be reluctant to take aspirin in pregnancy.
We are in the process of creating a resource for expectant parents, so they have more knowledge and can make more informed choices, and for healthcare professionals, so they can better support pregnant women.
We need your help with the pre-eclampsia and aspirin resource:
As part of a wider public consultation we are asking for your help to develop these resources. Your feedback and perspective will make such a difference and anyone can take part in this survey – whether you have had experience of pre-eclampsia or not or whether you supported a partner, or a friend in their pregnancy, we would like to hear from you.
- You can take part in the pre-eclampsia and aspirin survey here.
And we’d really appreciate it if you could share with friends and family so we can gather as many different perspectives as possible. Thank-you!
